How to Get to Victoria Airport for an Early Flight

Victoria Airport One-way Rental for Early Flight

Have an early flight at the Victoria Airport? There’s a couple of options to get there. The Victoria Airport is located approximately 30-40 minutes or away from the Downtown core. It’s located in North Saanich which is a more remote part of Greater Victoria. Depending on your needs you may consider public transit, renting a car or hiring a taxi or Uber.

Public Transit: Victoria Public Transit is limited, especially very early in the morning and especially in the Airport / North Saanich region. The earliest bus departs close to 5:00 am is the 70 or 72 Bus towards Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal. It runs from Downtown Victoria and it will drop you off at the McTavish Exchange. It is also a 30 minute walk from the McTavish Exchange to the Airport which can be difficult if you have a lot of luggage. We recommend checking the bus schedule for specific bus times and can be found on the BC Transit website.

Car Rental: Organizing a car rental the night before can offer you a more flexible and controlled approach to getting to your early flight. You may rent from any of our city locations in Victoria and drop off at the Victoria Airport with no drop charges. This service is offered at our Colwood location near Langford, our Midtown location on Douglas Street, and our Downtown Victoria location. Our counter opens at 6:30 am, but you are free to use our after hours return by parking in any open National Stall at the Victoria Airport and bringing the keys inside the terminal, and leaving them in the key drop at our counter.

*Tip: Depending on the season, car rentals can be very affordable during slower winter months. On Vancouver Island, National Car Rental rates in the winter months are typically around $30-$50 per day with a minimum 24 hour rental. During peak season summer months rates can be $60-$90 per day occasionally higher depending on availability.

Taxi or Uber: Uber is relatively new to Victoria, but can be arranged for your trip to the Victoria Airport. There are typically fewer drivers on duty early in the morning, but it will save you the hassle of driving and parking. Due to limited drivers available, and Uber being a newer service for Victoria, we strongly advise booking your taxi or Uber in advance with a good buffer for waiting for the vehicle to arrive. Most Ubers or Taxis from Downtown Victoria can be $60-$80 to the Victoria Airport and the drive is usually 30 minutes. Taxis from Langford to Victoria Airport can range from $65-$85. It is approximately a 30 minute drive from Langford.

*Rental car rates may vary and are not guaranteed without a confirmed reservation. To check rates and availability please visit nationalcar.ca.
